Marcos Blahove

TYBEE ISLAND – Marcos Blahove was born in the Ukraine and was a resident of Tybee Island. He studied at the Academia Vicente Puig, Buenos Aires, and at the National Academy of Design.
Marcos Blahove was a noted portrait artist whose paintings appear in the National Collection of Fine Arts and Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; Navy Combat Art Collection, Washington, D.C.; Weatherspoon Art Gallery, University of North Carolina, Greensboro; Southampton College, Long Island University, New York; and at the Salmagundi Club, New York, where he was a member. He had done commissioned portraits of Aaron Copland, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ford 2nd; Lt. Barbara A. Allen; and Bill Koghler, among others.
He had one-man shows at the Galeria Americana, Buenos Aires; Fitzgerald Gallery, New York; and Attic Art Gallery, Greensboro, North Carolina; and had exhibited his work in many group shows as well. His awards include the Purchase Prize, Artists Exhibit, Southampton College; the Eliot Liskin Award, Salmagundi Club; and the Museum of Fine Arts Commission Purchase Award, Portsmouth Museum. His work has been featured in American Artist.
